Old and new
Since late elementary school I had a passion for lettering, the most interesting to me was urban-stylized text aka graffiti. As I got a little older I got deeper into “tagging” and in some ways, it’s what put me on the path of becoming a graphic designer. Around middle-school my fascination with butterfly knives was ignited and although I fell out of both hobbies, butterfly knives (balisongs) made a resurgence and I rekindled my that passion again a few years ago.
This patch is the culmination of the two, it combines my appreciation for the creativity and skill to be a hobbyist of both. I worked closely with a vendor to get 100 of these produced in glow PVC/rubber, 50 in blue and the other 50 in red, I created a backing card and hand-numbered each one, and got a large BOPP grey decal to include in the kit. I sold it exclusively via social media.
